89 KEY PIERRE EICH
TThis organ was built circa 1910 by Pierre Eich out of a much earlyer Gavioli barrell organ (built circa 1890). The organ was converted to book playing operation, and most of the present pipework was fitted. The organ front was rebuilt with much additional carved work bieng added.
A Dutch showland family called Schilomeyer had the organ in the centre of a steam salon carousel and travelled the ride for a number of years before selling both the ride and the organ to the Sipkema family who continued to travel them up to the mid 1950's. The organ was last used in commercial ownership to provide musical accompaniment for a set of dogems.
In 1964 it was purchased by W. Barlow of Cleobury Mortimer and imported into this country. Shortly after the organ passed to Anthony Beever who overhauled it before selling it to Cole Brothers of Leeds in 1967.
